Center for Change
The chief goal of The Salvation Army is shelter. We work hard to operate the Center for Change. We serve homeless individuals over the age of 18. We serve a hot supper six nights a week and lunch every Sunday after services; 73, 314 meals were served in 2006.
The next step for the person in need is to meet with their case manager who will determine which of a wide array of service will best meet their needs. Programs available address the physical, emotional and spiritual well being of our clients. There are the SAUL (Salvation Army Uplifting Life) and SMILE (Salvation Army Making Individual Lives Easier) programs for individuals who face the challenges of substance addiction and mental illness.
The practical side of overcoming homeless is also addressed; we provide an array of life skills classes as well as mailboxes and voicemail to allow for job searches, vouchers for clean clothing and bus fare for attending job interviews.
